Bliss for Women was founded by Maureen Matthews and celebrated its 13th Birthday in October 2009. Maureen, who is legally blind, is the mother of 3 adult sons and has been with her partner for 32 years. Looking for a new challenge as her sons grew up, Maureen wanted to offer a safe and informative environment for women to shop for books and products that cater to their specific needs. Maureen realised that most businesses dealing with sexuality were primarily for men, were sleazy, and offered little for women, or men in longterm relationships. As a retired teacher, she also wanted to educate and empower women in all areas of their sexuality.
Maureen also writes the popular relationship advice and sexuality experience column About Last Night in the Melbourne newspaper The Sunday Age, and this column is also syndicated to many Fairfax websites.
After 13 years, Bliss for Women is acknowledged by health professionals, counselors, women's support groups and by the lesbian community, as an invaluable resource for women and couples seeking to enhance their experience of sex. We also have thousands of happy, loyal customers who often tell how happy they are that Bliss for Women exists.
